Singapore Botanic Gardens

When it’s time for a break from the urban buzz, Singapore Botanic Gardens is a quiet leafy retreat, only a walk away from Novotel Singapore on Stevens, Mercure Singapore on Stevens. The sprawling gardens are a UNESCO World Heritage site, home to over 60,000 plants, among them VIP orchids named for celebrities and dignitaries from Jackie Chan to Nelson Mandela. Established in 1859 in the style of an English garden, the park is a beloved picnic spot which regularly hosts open-air concerts by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.

Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay is a park of a very different variety. You can’t miss the massive Supertrees – towering tree-shaped vertical gardens between nine and 16 storeys high. The suspended walkway between the trees offers a sweeping bird’s-eye view of the gardens, and in the evening there’s a spectacular sound and light show. The Cloud Forest features a 35-metre-tall mountain under a glass dome, shrouded in mist and home to the world’s tallest indoor waterfall.
